Abby Yassin has always
had a passion for gourmet cooking and baking. She used to fit her cooking in around
a busy job as an accountant. Then her daughter Layla was born five and half
years ago, and Abby decided to stay home to raise her daughter. Her daughter
likes to eat pasta but she didn’t like her veggies and Abby decided to add
veggies to her gourmet sauce and it became a complete meal.
Abby joined several playgroups and met many other busy
mothers, often inviting these new friends over for shared meals and
play-dates. A staple dish at these get-togethers quickly became Abby’s
homemade gourmet pasta sauce - fun to make, delicious and always a kid and mom
favorite. (When the children refuse to eat anything as 2&3 years old,
parents know that the one thing they still cannot get enough of is pasta.)
Abby’s friends began clamoring to learn how to make this fantastic sauce.
But of course, being so busy, they found it hard to fit in time to learn. So
Abby started giving away jars of sauce every time she hosted a play date in
her house. Before long, folks were offering to pay her to make more for them
– and a small business was born!
As Layla entered school, Abby gave biscotti as a Christmas gift for her
daughter’s preschool teachers and other friends. Just as with her pasta
sauce, the biscotti were an instant hit. Everybody loved the biscotti – and
again were interested in buying some for their families and friends. Mothers
Touch Kitchen suddenly had two products and decided to share it with public.
